Course Content

This programme, Middle Manager Newly Appointed, is designed for anyone who has just been appointed or is about to be appointed to this management role.
Anyone wanting to gain knowledge, develop skills, attributes and techniques to become effective leaders and managers to get the most out of themselves and others.
By the end of the course, you will feel better prepared to make the most of your skill sets and have a clear route of progression.
You will have moved forward as an individual, be a confident team leader and have a greater understanding of the effect you can have on the wider organisation.
Being a newly appointed manager can feel very daunting. People often feel isolated and unsure of how to progress. Some lack the confidence to lead and might feel intimidated having to communicate with strong-minded individuals.
This programme is to help you prepare and build the foundations of what it takes to become an inspiring leader and effective manager.
We will provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to get started at this early stage of your management career.
Over the 6 modules we will look at:
– Analysis of the current situation
– Departmental objectives
– Different strategies you will need to adopt to move forward
– Techniques for motivating and coaching your team
– Development of your skills and confidence
– Set up plans and get them implemented
– Succession planning for future growth
– Contingency planning to address potential threats
– Maximising the use of your time
You will be working with a group of like-minded people at the same career stage as you, so you will be learning together, sharing and overcoming issues as a group, picking up tips and supporting each other as you develop.
There is no practical assessment for this course, but there is homework set, with review and feedback from the Tutor, Tom Yeung.
Location: Online via Zoom
*Please note: If you have 6 or more attendees, this course can be booked in person at your place of work or at the Energy Skills Centre in Lowestoft*
