East Coast College is proud to announce the launch of its new Construction and Civil Engineering Campus at Lound, situated on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in the region’s future workforce and has been designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals across the construction and infrastructure sectors. The campus will provide opportunities for individuals looking to begin a career in Civil Engineering, as well as those already employed in the industry who are seeking to upskill, retrain or progress through apprenticeships.
Developed in close collaboration with industry leaders and large infrastructure projects such as Sizewell C, the new campus embodies a truly employer led approach to education. This co-creation model means that learners will gain not only technical skills but also the practical knowledge, behaviours and competencies most valued by employers.
A wide range of training options will be delivered at the Lound campus, including programmes in Civil Engineering, groundworks, leadership and management. In addition, the campus will host specialist partnerships in areas such as plant operations, scaffolding and broader infrastructure skills, all of which are essential for major construction and infrastructure projects. The site will also be home to an Operator Skills Hub a Balfour Beatty and Flannery Plant Hire initiative to ensure that specific plant training needs can be delivered.
These training pathways are designed to support both immediate skills gaps and long-term workforce development across the East of England. By bringing together education, employers and industry experts in one dedicated hub, East Coast College aims to create a centre of excellence that will support economic growth, enhance career opportunities for local people and ensure the region is equipped with the skilled workforce needed to deliver future infrastructure ambitions.
